Shock wave therapy

• Shock waves are high-energy ultrasound waves that are directed via the surface of the skin into the diseased tissue and which propagate in a circular or focussed manner.
• The tissue responds with increased metabolic activity, which stimulates or accelerates healing processes.
• Shock wave therapy is used for:

delayed bone healing
heel spurs, achillodynia
calcific tendinitis
muscle/tendon insertion pain, e.g. tennis elbow – golfer’s elbow
patellar tendinitis
painful muscle conditions

Shock wave therapy does not use X-rays or drugs. Surgical intervention and its associated risks can be avoided.
