Brief information on realignment osteotomy
Name of procedure: Tibial head realignment, Valgus alignment osteotomy, Open wedge tibial head realignment , Realignment osteotomy

When is surgery indicated?
Early stage of knee arthrosis in the inner (medial) part of the joint
with or without bow leg position

Surgical procedures:
Joint-preserving procedure, partial dissection of the tibial head,
correction of the leg axis, fixing with a special plate

Hospitalisation:
Inpatient stay: 3-4 days
Time off work: up to 12 weeks

Follow-up:
Mobilisation with partial weight-bearing for 4 weeks. Intensive physiotherapy at the same time. Metal removal after approx. 1 year.
